Registration

Registration details will be posted here early October.

Visas

It is imperative that authors and attendees allow sufficient time to obtain visas.

You can check whether you need a visa to visit Italy on this website: https://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/?lang=en_US. In particular, citizens from EU/EEA do not need a visa to enter Italy. Visas are obtained in the consulates or embassies of Italy. Requirements and processing times may depend on the origin of the visitor. We strongly recommend investigating the concrete conditions for your case well in advance.

Conference attendees who require a visa will typically need an invitation letter. In order to obtain one, please send an email to the local organizers, Tommaso D'Orsi and Adam Polak, with the subject "ITCS Visa Invitation Letter Request", and provide the following pieces of information: your full name as it appears in your passport, your current affiliation, and your job title.

Venue

The conference is held on the main Bocconi campus in the city center of Milan, on the ground floor of the Leonardo Del Vecchio Building (Velodromo). It is a large oval brick-layered building in the middle of the northern part of the campus.

Getting to Milan

Milan is easily reachable by train from many European destinations, including direct high-speed connections. Please consider traveling environmentally-friendly!

For those arriving by plane, Milan is served by three airports: Malpensa, Linate, and Bergamo Orio al Serio.

Malpensa (MXP, 45 km from the city centre) can be reached from the centre of Milano with the Malpensa Express train from the Cadorna, Milano Centrale, and Milano Porta Garibaldi stations.
The trains run every 15 minutes. It costs EUR 13, and takes 40–50 minutes to get to the city. You can pay the fare by simply tapping your credit or debit card to the contactless terminal at the top of the escalator going down to the platforms. Various bus companies also serve the route.

Linate (LIN, 7 Km from the city centre) is served by the M4 underground line.

Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY, 50 km from the city centre) can be reached by bus shuttle services run by various companies. The buses depart every 15–20 minutes from the Milano Centrale railway station (Piazza Luigi di Savoia, in the south east side of the station).

Getting around

Getting around Milan is really easy: you can walk to reach the main attractions, but if you need to cover longer distances you can use the extensive public transport network plus various types of rental vehicles and taxis.

The city is served by 5 underground lines: M1 Red, M2 Green, M3 Yellow, M4 Blue, and M5 Lilac plus numerous bus and tram lines – all operated by ATM (Azienda Trasporti Milanesi). Check the website for the metro map and other useful information. You can also use Google Maps to plan your journeys. The timetables should be treated as indicative – the lines run with high frequency but small delays are common. Google Maps is rarely aware of the delays in real time, the official ATM app tends to be more accurate in that regard.

A single ticket costs EUR 2.20 and is valid for 90 minutes on all buses, trams, and underground lines. The easiest way to pay the fare is contactless, terminals are available in all buses, trams, and metro stations. You need to tap your card each time you enter a vehicle or metro station, but you get charged only once within the ticket validity period.
